The Institute of Technology Carlow (IT Carlow) is one of the largest of Ireland’s 14 institutes of technology. Carlow is a picturesque town surrounded by beautiful villages and settlements, famous for its rich architecture and history and the College has campuses in Carlow, Wexford and Wicklow where more than 8000 students are enrolled. It provides undergraduate and postgraduate programs in over 80 subjects along with research and enterprise development opportunities.
IT Carlow has been a previous winner of the Sunday Times Institute of Technology of the Year, and has also been awarded with the Aviation Academic Education Award in 2015. The Institute places emphasis on research, development and innovation and has one of the leading aerospace education facilities in Ireland, and also in the realm of software and games development.
The campus has several amenities like a health centre, full time Careers Service providing information on employment and further learning, counselling services, radio and TV studios, free internet access, a campus library, laboratories, a cafeteria and a splendid restaurant on campus. There is an active Students’ Union present for student support and their common room has a TV, pool table and play stations for relaxation in between classes.
State of the art sports facilities are available on campus and the institute is chosen for studying by several sports enthusiasts. The institute has internationally renowned sports programmes, a health and fitness centre, sauna rooms, a running track and sports pitch. There are over 25 clubs and societies to pick from including Computers, Drama, PALS, SHOUT-LGBT, Women in Technology and Anime Manga.
Accommodation is available off campus around the city, and transport links are fantastic with buses, trains and taxis available.
The campus is a short walk into Carlow town. Dublin city is just 85km away and Dublin Airport is a distance of 97km from Carlow town.
